Switzerland: Gimmelwald, Swiss National Day
Fireworks cascade over the edge of the mountain from Gimmelwald to culminate Swiss National Day on the first day of August.
The Gimmelwald hostel gathers it's denizens and leads them on a lantern parade through the tiny hamlet, to the vastly amused encouragement of local residents.
The evening ends with beer and song, as residents keep keep an eye out for the traditional signal fires lit by neighboring villages on the mountain side.
